UNO CARDS GAME RULES

Here are the basic UNO rules:

Objective:

Be the first player to reach 500 points by getting rid of all your cards in multiple rounds. (Alternatively, play until a set number of rounds and count who has the fewest points.)

Setup:

  • Each player is dealt 7 cards.

  • The rest of the deck is placed face down as the draw pile.

  • The top card from the draw pile is flipped over to start the discard pile.

Gameplay:

  1. Players take turns matching the top card of the discard pile by color, number, or symbol.

  2. If a player can’t play, they must draw one card. If that card is playable, they can play it immediately; otherwise, their turn ends.

  3. Special action cards affect gameplay (see below).

  4. When a player has one card left, they must shout "UNO!" If another player catches them not saying it before their next turn, they must draw two cards.

  5. The first player to get rid of all their cards wins the round, and the other players count the points left in their hands.

Special Cards:

  • Skip (🚫) – The next player loses their turn.

  • Reverse (🔄) – Changes the direction of play.

  • Draw Two (+2) – The next player draws 2 cards and loses their turn.

  • Wild (🎨) – Choose any color to continue play.

  • Wild Draw Four (+4) – Choose any color, and the next player draws 4 cards and loses their turn. (Can only be played if you have no other playable cards.)

Scoring:

At the end of a round, the winner scores points based on the cards left in other players' hands:

  • Number cards: Face value (0-9)

  • Skip, Reverse, Draw Two: 20 points each

  • Wild, Wild Draw Four: 50 points each

First to 500 points wins (or play for a set number of rounds and total points)
